Hike & Explore
A small lighthouse sitting about 2 miles out at the entrance to the Thorofare between Deer Isle and Stinson Neck. You're not walking up to this one — it's a distant view from Sand Beach Road, so bring binoculars or a long lens (400mm or better for cameras). But the real experience isn't visual — it's the sound. The fog signal sounds off every 15 seconds, rain or shine, fog or bluebird sky. It's always there. But on a foggy day when you can't see the tower and that steady pulse is just rolling across the water — that's when the vibe hits different.
Insider Tip
This pairs naturally with Sand Beach — they're on the same road. Hit the lighthouse viewpoint first, then continue to the beach for sunset. Two stops, one drive. Clear day, bring the long lens. Foggy day, skip the camera and just listen.
